An extraordinary date with sound and visual artist Ryoji Ikeda on St. Valentine’s evening. I lack words to describe the experience, with a before and after state in the way I apprehend my relationship with music, noise and sound in general. A counter-intuitive situation for many, the edge of cool for others… listening to electronic music in a theatre seat with blasting sub-bass speakers blowing masterfully arranged frequencies into your face without the ability of losing your body to it dancing… how can I describe this ? Never would I have suspected a concert of this kind could hold the power of granting me access to unexplored areas of my inner life, which I mistakenly thought only melodic and especially classical music had the magic of leading ways to.
